MR. CHARLES MASON, Sussex County Scout Commissioner, presents 17-year-old Venture Scout Peter Simmons with a Silver Cross at East Court on Tuesday of last week. On the right is Michael Moon, also aged 17 who with Peter saved a man from drowning in the sea at Eastbourne in August.
Mr. Edgar Cooper, local district commissioner, Cr. Trevor Woodd, chairman of East Grinstead Rural Council, and several other councillors attended the meeting.
After the presentation slides were shown of the summer Janus Expedition to Loch Laggan, Aberdeenshire, organised jointly by Kent and Sussex Venture Scout and Ranger Guide units.
