So I have had had to call in a ‘lot of favours’ from ex members and leaders to produce this site which I hope you will find interesting.
Unfortunately much of the Groups archive material was lost in two Headquarters fires in 1983, the first accidental and the second arson. In order to fill in the gaps I have spent much of my spare time reading the archive copies of local papers from 1908 to the current date.
Some of the material used in this site has been obtained from newspaper reports and photographs from these publications have been used. Some may appear ‘pixilated’, however the reproduction may be improved by changing the size of the image
Introduction
In early 2007, I was ‘volunteered’ to oversee the research into the 1st East Grinstead Scout Group, and produce this web site. Although I was first invested as a Wolf Cub in 1947, moved to East Grinstead in 1978 and have been involved in scouting in the town since this time, I did not become involved with the Group until 2001 when my then Group amalgamated
