1st East Grinstead Scout Group
Centenary 1908 -
From the time Dr Walker joined the Group as Scoutmaster they undertook gymnastic training and the group become renowned for its prowess and displays.
As early as 1912 lantern slides of the Camp at Rustington show boys undertaking exercises, but unfortunately they are of poor quality and do not warrant reproduction. In 1929 the Group staged a large Fete on the West Street Cricket Ground and a large Gymnastic display formed part of the display. Gymnastics remained an important part of the members training and they were still undertaking displays up until 1963.
